Your first session: you can arrive without ready answers

What you can discuss when you first meet, and how to prepare a comfortable space for the conversation.

Your first session: you can arrive without ready answers

Before a first consultation it can be difficult to know where to begin. You do not need a perfect story or an explanation for every feeling.

A small starting point

If you wish, write down one situation that troubles you and a few questions for the psychologist. This is a conversation aid, not required homework.

Agree on the details

Ask about fees, duration, the platform, rescheduling and confidentiality before you begin. It is fine to ask again when something is unclear.

Make a little room

Find a place where you will not be interrupted. Check your sound and internet connection and keep some water nearby. You can let people at home know you need some time alone.

After the conversation

Notice whether you understood the process and felt able to ask questions. You can decide whether to continue at your own pace.

It can start with one conversation.

You do not have to work through everything alone. Share what matters to you right now.
